The Domaine of Magnaut
Le Domaine de Magnaut located in Gascogne on the commune of Fources in the North-west of the department of Gers. The « Domaine » is composed of a vineyard of 35 hectares to the rich and varied soils. The blend between these soils and professional experiences acquired by Jean-Marie Terraube, in various vineyards, allowed to create a range of Wines “Côtes de Gascogne” and “Flocs de Gascogne” and to develop “les eaux de Vies” of Armagnac. Today the whole of the products of the “Domaine de Magnaut” are regularly rewarded.

History
In the 1970’s, Pierre TERRAUBE produced first Armagnacs of the “Domaine”. These old and prestigious vintages are to be discovered in our Armagnac cellar.
It is into 2000 that Jean Marie TERRAUBE decides to ensure the revival necessary to produce Wines « Côtes de Gasgogne » of quality. The first stage was adapting grape varieties with the various soils.
Vineyard:
The vineyard of 35 hectares is composed to 80% of white grapes (Colombard, Ugni Blanc, Gros and Petit Manseng Sauvignon blanc and gris). The grapes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat and Syrah cover the remainder with the vineyard.
Various soils make the « Domaine de Magnaut »:
- The valley where the acidic soil with sand is ideal for Armagnacs.
- On the slopes, the fine clay grounds support the good maturity of the white grapes.
- The red wines are planted on the plateau clayey-limestone whose exposure gives generous and strength wines.
Jean Marie Terraube promotes the new techniques which respect the environment and the vines.
